Homicide Suspect featured on ‘America’s Most Wanted’ Arrested in MarylandBoston Police announce the arrest of a murder suspect wanted in connection with a 2005 homicide.
Homicide investigators identified murder suspect, Ernest Ferguson, 34, of Dorchester, as the individual responsible for the shooting death of Brian Whitsey, 37, of Brockton in August of 2005. After an exhaustive investigation surrounding the facts and circumstances of Mr. Whitsey’s murder, detectives applied for and were granted an arrest warrant from Roxbury District Court charging Ferguson with Murder.
This case was highlighted on the television show America’s Most Wanted. Local authorities arrested Ernest Ferguson in the Baltimore, Maryland area.
On August 5, 2005 at about 4:25pm, officers where flagged down by witness who stated they had a person shot in their car. Officers then escorted the vehicle to Boston Medical Center where Doctors soon pronounced Mr. Whitsey as deceased. It was determined that the cause of death was a result of multiple gunshot wounds and the manner of death was homicide.
Working in conjunction with the Boston Police, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office conducted an extensive Grand Jury investigation into Whitsey\’s death, leading to Ferguson\’s indictment last summer on charges of first-degree murder and unlawful possession of a firearm.
Ferguson will be arraigned in Baltimore, charged as being a fugitive from justice and returned to Boston at a future date. The Baltimore police continue to assist Boston Police homicide detectives in the ongoing investigation. When Ferguson returns to Boston he will me charge with Murder.
