SHOTS FIRED LEADS TO SIX ARRESTS IN EAST BOSTONAt about 4:00am, on Saturday, April 14, 2007, officers from District A-7 (East Boston) responded to a radio call for shots fired in the area of Princeton Street. Officers were told (via the police radio) that five to six Hispanic males, dressed in dark clothing, were seen running away from the area. As officers approached the location, officers observed a group of kids fitting the description broadcast over the police radio. As a result, officers approached the group. As officers were talking to the suspects, the suspects (using profanity) became loud and belligerent. As a result of the commotion, officers noticed that the disturbance was affecting the neighbors in the area. Specifically, officers observed neighbors turning on lights and looking out windows. Officers then arrested Victor Palacios, 27, of East Boston; Hamza Kajjame, 19, of East Boston; Edwin Miranda, 18, of East Boston; Jose Loza, 18, of East Boston; Dennis Rodriguez, 19, of East Boston; a 16 year-old male from Chelsea and charged all involved with Disturbing the Peace.
MOTOR VEHICLE BREAK LANDS ONE IN CUSTODY
At about 3:16pm, on Friday, April 13, 2007, officers from District A-1 (Downtown) were flagged down by a concerned citizen who stated he had just seen an individual (a white male wearing a black coat and black hat) breaking into a car on Boylston Street. According to witnesses, the suspect smashed a window, grabbed some items and, then, walked away from the vehicle. Witnesses then pointed out the suspect as he attempted to flee the scene. Officers then exited their cruiser and began following the suspect on foot. As officers approached the suspect, the suspect dropped a white plastic bag. Officers recovered the bag and stopped the suspect. Inside the bag, officers recovered a GPS system, a shaving razor and several other items. The suspect then admitted, “I took the GPS.” Officers then arrested Luis Sanchez, 39, of Quincy and charged him with Breaking & Entering a Motor Vehicle.
QUALITY OF LIFE ARREST MADE IN DORCHESTER
At About 5:51pm, on Friday, April 13, 2007, officers from District C-11 (Dorchester) responded to a radio call for a group of kids making noise and drinking in the area behind Savin Hill Park. This area has generated numerous complaints from the community as a result of kids trespassing, drinking, smoking pot, breaking bottles and posting graffiti. On arrival, officers exited their cruisers and entered the park. As officers approached the wooded area behind the basketball courts, officers detected the odor of what smelled like marijuana. Officers then observed several juveniles standing around a large rock. When officers asked the individuals to provide identification, all stated that they had none. Officers then observed a pack of cigarettes positioned next to one of the suspects. When officers asked the suspect if he owned the cigarettes, the suspect replied, “I’m 18 and they belong to me.” When officers opened the pack, they observed 2 plastic bags. Each plastic bag contained what appeared to be a marijuana-like substance. Officers then arrested Patrick Fumarola, 18, of South Boston and charged him with Possession of Class D Substance (marijuana). Officers also arrested four juveniles and charged them with trespassing.
