District B-3 Drug Unit Nets Drugs and Guns in Search Warrants as Part of Effort to Quell Escalating Neighborhood Violence

In recent months, officers from the District B-3 Drug Unit undertook an investigation of the Woodrow, Jones, Mountain Ave. and Jacob St. area due to increasing complaints by residents of drug activity and shots fired. As a result of intense monitoring of that area, officers discovered that drugs were being sold out of 6 Jacob St. Officers then launched an investigation and developed further proof that drugs were being sold out of that location based on surveillance and first hand knowledge. Based on the information gathered during their surveillance and investigation officers applied for and were granted a search warrant for 6 Jacob Street.Today, Friday, March 30, 2007, officers from District B-3 Drug Unit armed with a Dorchester Court search reported to 6 Jacob St. and executed the search warrant. As a result of that search officers recovered and seized three firearms, over 50 rounds of ammunition, a large quantity of marijuana, some crack, and over $5,000. of U.S. currency.
Suspect, Omar Albert, 30, of Dorchester was arrested and charged with three counts of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Possession with Intent to Distribute Class D, and Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B. In addition to the arrested suspect, two other individuals will be summonsed to court on charges of Possession of a Class D substance, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.
