Road Rage Lands One in JailAbout 4:50pm, on Monday, February 19, 2007, officers from District B-2 observed two drivers, stopped side by side at intersection of Dudley Street and Shawmut Avenue, engaged in what appeared to be a verbal dispute. Upon seeing the marked cruiser, one of the drivers motioned for the officers to get involved. According to driver #1 (the victim), driver #2 (the suspect) was blocking traffic, so, driver #1 beeped his horn. According to driver #1, when he beeped his horn, driver #2 immediately jumped out of his car and then proceeded to reach into his pants as if he was reaching for a weapon. At this point, driver #1 says he drove off, but driver #2 followed him. Officers then spoke to driver #2 who stated that he was only asking driver #1 for directions. At this point, officers asked driver #2 to produce his license, however, driver #2 refused to even acknowledge the officers. Finally, a check thru the Mobile Data Terminal (the computer inside the cruiser) revealed that driver #2 was unlicensed. As a result, officers then arrested Alexander Lwanga, 27, of Roxbury, and charged him with Operating Without a License.
Two Arrested for Assault and Battery on a Police Officer
Last night around 11:47pm, officers in District 3 observed a black and maroon vehicle traveling at a speed greater than reasonable on Harvard St. towards Glenway St. Officers reversed direction and observed the suspects vehicle fail to signal before making a right hand turn onto Standish Street. Officers attempted to initiate traffic stop by activating their lights and siren. The suspects vehicle continued to travel disregarding the officers attempt to stop the vehicle. Officers observed the suspects vehicle make a right hand turn against the flow of traffic on Wales Street. Officers observed the suspects make a series of turns before coming to a sliding halt in the driveway of 3 Curley St. A brief struggled ensued as officers attempted to handcuff the two suspects. During the struggle officers were kicked and one officer sustained a minor injury. Chancellor Young, 21, of Bridgewater was arrested and charged with Operating without being Licensed, Driving to Endanger, Reckless Operation, Speeding, Possession of Class D, Resisting Arrest and Assault and Battery on a Police Officer. Also arrested was Rafael Morales, 20, of Brockton and charged with Assault and Battery on a Police Officer, Trespassing and Resisting Arrest.
Suspect Arrested After Breaking into Vehicles in Parking Garage
About 12:28am, on Tuesday, February 20, 2007, officers from District A-1 responded to a radio call for the report of a person breaking into cars in the garage of the Radisson Hotel at 200 Stuart Street. On arrival, officers spoke to witnesses who stated they saw a black male, wearing a yellow jacket breaking into cars. Witnesses further stated that they watched the suspect run into a different garage, across the street from the hotel. Officers then responded to that garage and located the suspect on the 3rd floor. The suspect was then brought back to the hotel where witnesses then positively identified him. Officers then arrested Eric Weeks, 45, of Roxbury and charged him with Larceny from a Motor Vehicle.
