B&E Suspect Arrested After Special DeliveryYesterday around 11:00pm, officers from District 11, armed with a Dorchester Court Search Warrant went to 1 South Point Drive #216 in Dorchester and arrested suspect, Shawn M. Funches, 26, of Dorchester charging him with numerous counts of Breaking and Entering, Attempted Breaking and Entering, Possession of Burglarious Tools, and Buying, Receiving or Concealing Stolen Goods.
Officers had responded to the Harbor Point complex several times in the last week in response to a rash of breaking and entries into various residents’ apartments. During these incidents a number of items had been stolen including laptop computers, check books and credit cards. During investigation, officers discovered that a victim’s card had been used to order food after being stolen. Following up on this lead, detectives determined that the food had been delivered to the same complex. Armed with this information, officers applied for and were granted a search warrant for the above noted address. On their initial response to the apartment of interest, officers were told by the occupant that she was alone with her children and that no one else was home. Officers entered the apartment with the search warrant and discovered the suspect hiding in a bedroom closet. Further search of the apartment yielded a number of items reported stolen by victims of the breaks including laptops, stolen checks, and credit cards. Officers also recovered a number of burglarious tools in the apartment.
Warrant Service Leads to Additional Charges for Probationee
Last night around 6:25pm, Boston Juvenile Probation officers, assisted by officers from District 2, responded to 201 Geneva St. to arrest a probationee wanted on several outstanding warrants. On arrival, officers were allowed entry by an occupant of the apartment. Officers were directed to the suspect’s room and told that he was inside. Officers, on approaching suspect’s room, were immediately assaulted by the smell of burning marijuana. Officers entered the suspect’s room and there observed him smoking a marijuana blunt cigar while listening to music. Officers further observed a plastic sandwich bag containing green leafy vegetable matter believed to be marijuana. The suspect, Shawn Tyler, 17, of Dorchester was arrested and charged with Possession of Class D, and outstanding warrants for Armed Robbery, Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon, and Assault and Battery.
Breaking and Entering Suspect Caught Inside Store
This morning around 1:21am, officers from District 2 responded to 218-220 Blue Hill Ave. in Roxbury for a motion alarm. Officers, on arrival, were not able to locate any signs of entry, having checked both the front and rear entrances. Officers waited for a key holder to arrive before departing. When the key holder arrived and was attempting to open the door, officers observed an individual inside the store attempting to escape through a hole in the roof. Officers entered the store and after a lengthy search located the suspect hiding in a storage area. The suspect, Eddie Dillard, 50, of Dorchester was arrested and charged with Breaking and Entering, Destruction of Property, Buying and/or Receiving Stolen Property, and Providing False Name to Officers after trying to mislead them about his identity.
Idling Car Leads Suspect to Night in Jail
This morning around 2:46am, officers from District 3 participating in Operation safe Neighborhood, arrested suspect, Daniel Jones, 34, of Clinton charging him with Possession of Class D.
Officers were on patrol in the area of 786 Blue Hill Ave. in Dorchester when they observed an idling car in the rear of the Mobil Gas Station. Officers approached this motor vehicle and there observed the suspect rolling a marijuana “blunt” cigarette. The suspect, consumed with rolling his “blunt” did not become aware of the officers’ presence until they knocked on his window. Officers asked the suspect what he was doing and he responded “Just smoking a blunt!” The suspect was then placed under arrest and the marijuana seized.
