Victim Shot in the Buttocks While Fleeing GunshotsAbout 10:58am yesterday, officers from District 4, while on patrol, heard several gunshots fired in the area of Shawmut Ave. and Massachusetts Ave. Additional offices responded to the area and while there observed two individuals running from the scene. Officers lost sight of the two individuals and again located one of the two inside the “Dunkin Donuts” at 696 Massachusetts Ave. Officers subsequently spoke to that individual and found out that he had been shot in the buttocks. The victim reported that he heard the gunshots and started running from the scene when he felt wetness in the back of his pants and discovered that he had been shot. The suspect was transported to the hospital and treated for a non-life threatening injury.
Alert Officers Arrest Suspect in Stolen Car Before Owner Finds Out Car is Stolen
Yesterday around 5:48pm, officers from District 3 arrested Raymond L. Coren, 37, of Dorchester and charged him with Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Revoked License, Receiving Stolen Motor Vehicle, Possession of Burglarious Tools, and Resisting Arrest.
Officers were patrolling in the area of Norwell St. when they observed the suspect seated in a car. Officers returned to suspect’s location and attempted to conduct a threshold inquiry. Officers approached the car and identified themselves when the suspect suddenly jumped out the car and fled. The suspect was eventually placed under arrest after a foot pursuit and found to be in possession of a screwdriver. Officers observed damage to the steering column of the car and the door lock but check of the registration did not reveal it to have been reported stolen. Officers were able to contact the owner by having the Quincy Police go to the victim’s home. The owner subsequently came to B-3 to report that her car was stolen between 8am and 5pm while parked on Avenue Louis Pasteur.
OUI Suspect Arrested Driving for Drunk Friend
This morning around 2:01am, a passerby alerted officers from District 11 to a car that had tried to run her over. Officers responded to Wrentham St, located the car, and performed a traffic stop. Officers spoke to the operator and observed his speech to be slurred, his eyes to be glassy, and could detect a strong odor of alcohol coming from the operator and the car. Check of the operator’s license revealed it to be suspended. The other party who was in the car stated to officers that he had allowed the driver to operate his car because he was too drunk to drive. The operator, Valentine Miller, 48, of Leominster was arrested and charged with Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon: Car, Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License, and Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol. The suspect was charged with OUI after he failed several Field Sobriety tests.
