In the early morning hours of January 1, 2006, multiple shooting incidents occurred which resulted in the death of a 14-year-old male and left several others seriously injured. Boston Police are actively investigating these shootings and believe two of the incidents were the result of disputes that erupted at two separate private house parties. At this time, Boston Police do not believe that any of the incidents detailed below are random acts.Incident Descriptions:
· At 5:22AM, Officers from District C11 responded to a call at 41 Glendale Street on a report for a person shot. Upon arrival, officers located two victims inside the residence suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to Boston Medical Center where one victim was treated for a non-life threatening injury and the second victim is reportedly in serious condition.
· At 5:45AM, Officers from District C11 were dispatched to Clarkson Street and Hamilton Street for a person shot. Upon arrival, officers located two individuals suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Both victims were rushed to local hospitals. One victim, a 14- year-old black male, was treated and pronounced deceased. The second victim remains in critical condition. At this time, Boston Police believe this incident is connected to a party that was taking place at a residence on Clarkson Street. Many of the witnesses to this incident have been uncooperative. As with all homicide incidents, police continue to encourage individuals with information to assist the investigation.
· At 5:43AM, Officers from District C11 responded to Boston Medical Center on a report of a self-applied male suffering from a gunshot wound to his right toe. The 19-year-old white Hispanic victim stated that while walking on Quincy Street an unknown assailant shot at him multiple times. The victim stated that the suspect vehicle fled down Bowdoin Street. The victim was treated and released.
· On December 31, 2006 at 9:55PM, officers from District A1 responded to a call for shots fired at the intersection of Washington Street and Oak Street. Upon arrival, officers learned from witnesses that a victim had left the scene and was self-applied to Boston Medical Center. Officers went to Boston Medical Center to speak with the victim. The 13-year-old Asian male victim suffered a gunshot wound to the leg. The victim was unwilling to cooperate. Officers secured and processed the crime scene recovering ballistics evidence.
Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis stated, “Early this morning, I convened a meeting with members of my command staff to strategize a response to these incidents. Residents, particularly in the Dorchester community, will see an increase in police presence. In the coming days, we will work closely with our community partners as well as specialized police resources to mount a strong and coordinated response in our ceaseless efforts to end gun violence.” Commissioner Davis added, “It is astonishing to me that a 14-year-old has been murdered and individuals, who can identify the person responsible, have been unwilling to provide helpful information.”
