Happy New Year!Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested and “Confesses”
Yesterday around 7:57am, officers from District 4 responded to Boston Medical Center to investigate a person. On arrival, officers met with the caller who stated she was a victim to an armed robbery the day before and believes she had just spotted the suspect. Officers approached the identified individual and requested her identification. The individual provided officers with several identifying documents, including the victim’s identification card. The suspect, Leisa Roberts, 39, of Boston was arrested and charged with Armed Robbery.
Disregard for Pedestrian Traffic Lands Driver in Jail
About 7:25pm last night, officers from District 1 arrested suspect, Joseph Dembowski, 47, of North Billerica and charged him with Failure to Stop/Refusal to Submit to a Police Officer.
Officers were in the area of Beacon St. and Charles St. monitoring traffic for First Night Festivities when the suspect, who was operating a motor vehicle, was instructed to stop his car to allow pedestrians to cross the street. The suspect failed to stop and continued in the direction of the crossing pedestrians. Officers verbally directed the suspect to stop and he shook his head as if to say no and again proceeded in the direction of the pedestrians. Due to the suspect’s actions, officers approached the operator and requested his license and registration. The suspect refused officers demands for his license stating “I don’t have time for this!” Officers advised the suspect of the consequences of his actions when he suddenly exited his car and attempted to flee. The suspect was arrested after a short foot pursuit and struggle.
Speeding Motorist Spends the New Year in Jail
This morning at approximately 2:00am, officers from District 1 on patrol in the area of Shawmut St. near Downtown Boston observed a speeding motor vehicle fail to stop or slow down for a flashing red light. The vehicle continued at a high rate of speed, crossing the double yellow line and failing to yield to a pedestrian in the crosswalk. Officers followed this vehicle and attempted to stop the operator. After a series of hazardous driving maneuvers, officers successfully stopped the car at South St. and Warrenton Ave. Officers approached the operator and requested his license and registration when he became hostile and threatened officers. The suspect demanded “Do you know who I am!?” Officers ascertained the operator’s identity and placed him under arrest. Suspect, William Audy, 33, of West Roxbury was arrested and charged with Failure to Stop/Refusal to Submit to a Police Officer, Reckless Operation: Driving to Endanger.
