Suspect Arrested For Weapon Possession, Incident Resulted in Officer Involved Shooting

At approximately 3:00am on December 30, 2006, officers from District 2 responded to a call for shots fired in the area of Langdon Street. While en route, officers heard two to three gunshots and immediately observed an individual fleeing the scene. Officers requested additional units to respond and engaged in a foot pursuit.The suspect continued to run from officers. Multiple units responded and gave pursuit to the fleeing suspect. After running a distance and attempting to climb over a fence, the suspect, Calvin Horne, discharged a round from his weapon. Officers confronted the suspect, a violent struggle ensued and a round was discharged toward Boston Police officers.
An officer involved shooting resulted. Neither officers, nor the suspect, were hit during the exchange of gunfire. The suspect continued flight and was soon found hiding beneath bushes in front of a residence on Clarence Street. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident.
Officers arrested suspect, Calvin Horne, 20, of Dorchester and charged him with Unlawful Possession of A Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Discharging a Firearm within 500\’ of a Dwelling, Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon, and a number of other drug possessions charges and outstanding warrants for drug charges.
