SECOND SUSPECT ARRESTED RELATED TO RECENT STUDENT ASSAULT

At approximately 3:00pm on December 19, 2006, Boston Police detectives arrested 23-year old Ronald B. Twombly Jr., of Hingham on an outstanding warrant related to a recent assault on a Boston University student.Today Boston Police detectives applied for and were granted a warrant for Twombly’s arrest in connection with an assault that occurred on December 3, 2006. Shortly after obtaining the warrant, Boston Police detectives with the assistance of the Hingham Police arrested Twombly at his Hingham residence. Twombly was transported to District 14, where he was booked and charged with Assault with Intent to Murder-Dangerous Weapon, Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon Serious Injury and Affray.
On December 7, 2006, Boston Police detectives arrested Sean Melanson, 23, of Hingham on an outstanding warrant for his connection to this incident. Melanson was charged with Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon and Threats to Commit Crime. Melanson was arraigned and ordered to return to Brighton District Court on January 11, 2007.
On December 3, 2006 around 4:00am, officers from District 14 responded to a radio call for a man down. Upon arrival, officers located four victims suffering from various injuries. The most seriously injured victim was found lying in the front yard of 9 Wadsworth Street suffering from a head wound as a result of being assaulted during a large fight.
Twombly will be arraigned tomorrow at Brighton District Court.
