Four Juveniles Arrested for Unarmed RobberyAbout 6:26pm yesterday, officers from District 3 responded to a radio call for a robbery in progress at 19 Caddy Rd. in Mattapan. On arrival officers spoke to the victim who reported that he was surrounded, assaulted and his property taken by four suspects after being asked for money. The victim stated that when he told the suspect he had no money they knocked him to the ground, assaulted him, and stole his earring and MBTA bus pass.
While officers were speaking to the victim, other responding units located four individuals matching suspect description in the area. The victim was transported to the location of the suspects where he positively identified all four suspects. Four juveniles, a 15 and 16 year old from Dorchester, and a 15 and 16 year old from Mattapan were charged with Unarmed Robbery and Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon: Shod Foot.
Suspects Stopped for Speeding Arrested with Firearm
Last night around 9:10pm, officers from the Youth Violence Strike Force observed a speeding motor vehicle in the area of Church St. and Winter St. in Dorchester. Officers followed this car and were not able to conduct a motor vehicle stop until Quincy St. and Bellevue St. due to the speed of the car. Officers approached the operator and requested of him his license and registration. The operator responded to officers that he was not licensed to drive, and as such was placed under arrest. Two other passengers were in the car including the owner. Neither had a license and as such the car was towed by officers. During an inventory search of the car, officers located a firearm and ammunition in the car. Officers arrested the operator of the car, Casimiro M. Barros, Jr., 20, of Roxbury and charged him with Operating Without Being Licensed, Speeding, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition, Second Subsequent Offense, and Being an Armed Career Criminal. The owner of the car, Bernadina B. Goncalves, 32, of Roxbury was also arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition and Allowing Unlicensed Person to Operate.
Two Suspects Arrested After Assaulting Bouncer with a “Gun”
At approximately 10:25pm, officers from District 11 responded to 934 Dorchester Ave./Banshee Bar for a person with a gun. On arrival officers spoke to the victims who reported that the suspects attempted to enter the bar and when they were refused entry, pulled out a gun. The victims further reported that the suspects pulled out the gun and threatened stating “Who’s tough now?” The suspects fled after a brief verbal exchange and were pursued by the victims until they turned around and aimed the gun in their direction. The victims then stopped but continued to give officers the suspects’ direction of flight. Responding officers pursued the suspects initially apprehending one of the suspects with what appeared to be a piece of a firearm. The second suspect was subsequently caught and found to be in possession of what appeared to be the main piece of the gun. After recovering the firearm, officers determined it to be a replica .45 caliber BB gun. Suspects, Zack Martin, 21, and Gemal Zahran, 22, of Dorchester were arrested and charged Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon.
