At approximately 9:00am on December 7, 2006, Boston Police detectives escorted suspect, Sean Melanson, 23, of Hingham to the District 14 police station. Yesterday as a result of investigative efforts, Boston Police detectives applied for and were granted a warrant for Melanson’s arrest in connection with a recent assault on several Boston University students. Melanson surrendered to authorities, was booked and charged with Assault by mean of a Dangerous Weapon and Threats to Commit Crime.On December 3, 2006 around 4:00am, officers from District 14 responded to a radio call for a man down. Upon arrival, officers located four victims suffering from various injuries. Victims stated that three unknown white males, dressed in black-hooded sweatshirts wielding baseball bats, wrenches and hammers assaulted them. Victims additionally stated that the reason for the assault was unknown.
Melanson will be arraigned today at Brighton District Court. Boston Police continue to actively investigate this incident and are pursuing additional suspects.
