Breaking and Entering Suspect Arrested on Newbury StreetAt approximately 3:39am today, officers from District 4 arrested Robert Turner, 34, of Everett and charged him with Breaking and Entering in the Nighttime, and Possession of Burglarious Tools.
Officers on patrol in the Newbury Street area, vigilant to the threat of recent breaks, observed the suspect standing in front of the Louis of Boston display window and made an attempt to approach the suspect to determine his purpose. The suspect fled in an effort to evade officers and officers gave chase. The suspect was apprehended after a brief foot pursuit, and found to be in possession of a black jacket under his coat. Further investigation revealed that the merchandise belonged to Louis of Boston. Officers returned to the scene and there observed a broken display window. In addition, officers located a crowbar used by the suspect to break the window. The suspect will be arraigned today at Boston Municipal Court on the above noted charges.
Charity Scheme Suspect Arrested
Last night around 8:44pm, officers from District 2 responded to 661 Warren St. to investigate a possible charity scam. On arrival, officers spoke to the restaurant owners, who reported that they had received a call from an individual purporting to be from the Boston Police Superior Officers’ Federation (BPSOF) seeking a donation. The victims stated that they had made a donation the week before to the same individual. The suspect told the victims that donations were used to purchase toys were for children for the holiday season and that the donated funds had been exhausted. Officers waited on scene until the suspect arrived. Officers determined that the suspect had no connection to the Boston Police Department and that this was, indeed, a scam. Suspect, George Borden, 52, of Quincy was arrested and charged with Larceny by Scheme.
Assault Rifle Recovered as a Result of Warrant Search
Armed with a Dorchester District Court warrant, officers from District 11, accompanied by Massachusetts State Police and the Fall River Police, executed a warrant at 10 Longfellow St in Dorchester. This morning around 12:45am, officers searched the house pursuant to the warrant and located a high-capacity assault rifle and ammunition. Suspect, Derek J. Saccoach, 28, of Dorchester was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.
