OUI Suspect Arrested After Admitting to Being Drunk About 6:14pm yesterday, officers from District 18 responded to 635 Cummins Hwy. for a motor vehicle accident. On arrival, officers observed the motor vehicles involved in the accident and the operator of the car that had caused the accident. Officers spoke to witnesses who reported seeing the operator of the car strike a parked car and exit his car “stumbling around drunk.” Officers spoke to the operator of the car and made observation that he had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath, was unsteady on his feet, was drooling from the mouth, and had extremely bloodshot eyes. The operator of the car’s inability to stand rendered him incapable of doing any field sobriety tests. The operator when advised that he was being placed under arrest for OUI stated to officers “”I’m drunk but I’m not that drink!” The suspect, Colin Ashby, 49, of Mattapan was arrested and charged with Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol and Failure to Stay within Marked lanes.
Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest of Driver and Recovery of Stolen Firearm
This morning at approximately 1:07am, officers from District 18 arrested suspect, Mark A. Pink, 25, of Mattapan and charged him with Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Being Licensed, Driving to Endanger, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawful Possession of High Capacity Magazine, Receiving Stolen Property, and Possession of Class D.
Officers on patrol initially observed suspect motor vehicle being operated at a high rate of speed fail to stop for a red light at the intersection of Hyde Park Ave. and Canterbury St. Officers followed this vehicle and observed several other violations before a traffic stop was conducted in front of 367 Poplar St. There, offices learned that the driver was not properly licensed and he was placed under arrest for Operating Without Being Licensed, and Operating to Endanger. In the course of an inventory search of the vehicle, officers discovered a loaded firearm in front of the driver’s seat. Check of the firearm revealed it to be stolen, and during the booking search the suspect was found to have to be marijuana on his person.
Breaking and Entering Suspect Arrested with Evidence
At 5:22am this morning, officers from District 7 responded to 1 Ipswich Place for a breaking and entering in progress. En route, officers were given a description of the suspect and on arrival observed an individual matching that description with a folder in his hand. Officers stopped that individual and a “bring back” confirmed that the person in custody was the suspect. The victim reported to officers that she heard a noise coming from her kitchen, and next observed her kitchen window open and her refrigerator, which was blocking the window, being pushed forward. The victim reported screaming when she observed the suspect and he fled. The suspect was next observed running from the victim’s house with an item that was on her refrigerator. The suspect, Selvin Lopes, 23, of East Boston was arrested and charged with Breaking and Entering.
