DAILY INCIDENTS FOR DECEMBER 2, 2006

Two Suspects Arrested For Armed RobberyAt approximately 11:15pm yesterday, officers from District 2 were flagged down by witnesses and a victim at the intersection of Ward St. and St. Alphonsus St. in Roxbury. Officers spoke to the victim and witnesses who reported that the suspect robbed the victim at gunpoint of his wallet and personal papers. Officers spoke to the victim who reported that the suspect approached him while he was walking, assaulted and robbed him at gunpoint of his wallet and its contents. Per victim and witnesses, the suspect then fled in a minivan. Responding officers broadcast a description of the suspect and his motor vehicle. A short while later officers located a vehicle matching suspect motor vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The victim was brought to the scene and positively identified the car and the suspects. Suspects, Joshua Ewing, 19, of Roxbury and Stephen Barnette, 19, of Hyde Park were arrested and charged with Armed Robbery, Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (Gun), and Assault and Battery. Officers recovered the money stolen from the victim during booking search of the prisoners and a piece of a replica firearm.
OUI Suspect Arrested Before Hitting the Streets
Officers from District 1 around 2:10am performing a paid detail at the 75 State Street parking garage today arrested suspect, Jonathan Caruso, 19, of Saugus and charged him with Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol, and Leaving the Scene of an Accident.
An officer performing a paid detail at the above location heard a loud sound consistent with car crashing. Investigation of that sound resulted in officers locating the suspect behind the wheel of a car with extensive front end damage attempting to exit the garage. Officers spoke to the suspect and immediately detected a strong odor of alcohol. Suspect when asked for his license produced his ATM card, was unsteady on his feet when asked to exit his motor vehicle and gave non-coherent answers to officers’ questions. The suspect was unable to pass a number of field sobriety tests and affirmed that he had been drinking. Due to the above noted facts the suspect was placed under arrest for OUI-Alcohol.
Home Invasion Suspect Arrested at Home
About 3:39am today officers from District 6 responded to 391 5th St. for a home invasion. On arrival, officers spoke to the victim who reported that he had been in a fight earlier that day outside a bar with the suspect of the home invasion. The victim reported that he went home and the suspect broke into his house and again attempted to assault him. Per victim, he and his father fought off the suspects and they fled. The victim reported to officers that the suspects are known to him and provided officers with the address for one of the suspects. Officers responded to suspect’s house and placed under arrest. Daniel J. Finn, 29, of South Boston was arrested and charged him with Home Invasion. Officers were able to determine how suspects accessed the victim’s house and recovered evidence left behind by the suspects. Officers recovered a roll of gray duct tape, house and car keys, and a cell phone left behind by suspects when they fled. One suspect is still outstanding from this incident.
