Two Suspects Arrested w/ Firearm in Area of Recent ShootingAround 2:50am yesterday officers from the Youth Violence Strike Force and officers from District 2 arrested Kabi Lopes-Darosa, 26, of Cambridge and Noel A. Howard, 24, of Roxbury and charged them with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition. Additionally suspect, Noel was charged with Possession of Class D for marijuana found on his person during the booking search.
Officers were on directed patrol in the area due to recent surge in gun violence and a shooting that occurred the day before. There, officers observed a motor vehicle stopped in the middle of the street obstructing traffic, and conducted a traffic stop. During the stop, occupants of the car acted nervously and made furtive movements. Officers removed the occupants from the car and discovered a loaded firearm.
Shoplifting Suspect Arrested by Vigilant Officers
Around 3:48pm yesterday officers from District 4 observed an individual walking around the 800 block of Boylston. Officers made observation that this individual had clothing sticking out from under his jacket and had an abnormal bulge on the right side of his jacket. Officers stopped this individual for a threshold inquiry based on recent shoplifting incidents in the area. Officers found several articles of clothing with the store tags still attached to them during the stop. The individual had no receipt for the items and could not explain where he had purchased them. Officers subsequently went back to the store with the identifying tags where it was confirmed that those articles of clothing were stolen from there. The suspect, William Melton, 29, of Jamaica Plain was arrested and charged with Receiving Stolen Property.
Police Canine Assists in Arrest of Gun Toting Suspect
Last night around 7:55pm officers from the Youth Violence Strike Force while responding to a shooting incident at the corner of Washington St. and Southern Ave. observed two individuals running in the direction of the shooting crime scene. The suspect fled away from the scene as he observed officers. Based on the officers’ training and experience they believed one of these two individuals to be armed. Officers followed this individual as he ran, clutching his side. The suspect discarded his jacket as he fled from officers eventually running behind a house where he was apprehended. During the pursuit of the suspect officers heard a sound consistent with a metal object striking the ground. A Boston Police ballistic sensing canine was subsequently called to the scene and located a loaded firearm in the area that the suspect had been pursued. The suspect, Keon D. Adams, 20, of Dorchester was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition.
