Fatal Hit and Run Victim Identified

Boston Police detectives continue to seek the public\’s assistance in providing information related to last Wednesday’s fatal hit and run on Warren Ave and Dartmouth Street in Boston’s South End. The operator of the suspect vehicle from this fatal hit and run remains at-large.On Wednesday, November 23, 2006 at approximately 9:39am, officers from District 4 responded to the intersection of Warren St. and Dartmouth St. in the South End for a report of a pedestrian struck. There, officers located Linda Cruz, 57, of Dorchester lying in the street. The victim was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital where she was later pronounced.
Witnesses reported that a newer model Volvo sedan operated by a bald, black male wearing a long, black coat struck the victim. Those witnesses additionally stated that the suspect exited the vehicle, observed the victim and then fled the scene. Detectives have located a vehicle of interest related to this incident but continue to urge anyone with information about this incident to contact the Boston Police Homicide Unit at (617) 343-4470 or remain anonymous by calling the Crime Stoppers Tip Line at 1-800-494-TIPS.
