Today around 12:52pm, officers in District 7 responded to a radio call to assist State Police in stopping a stolen vehicle. Officers located the vehicle stopped in traffic on Bennington Street neat Saratoga. At this time officer’s approached the car on foot, but the suspect refused to stop or obey the officer’s commands. The suspect’s vehicle suddenly accelerated in an attempt to flee the area, striking the officer with the vehicle. As a result of the officer being struck by the vehicle his firearm accidentally discharged one round. Further investigation revealed that the suspect vehicle struck four other vehicles in traffic. One person was taken to Mass General and treated for minor injuries. Two officers were also transported to an area hospital for evaluation. The suspect abandoned the vehicle and fled. The suspect currently remains at-large. This incident is to be further investigated.
