On November 4, 2006 at approximately 12:36am, officers from District 2 responded to a radio call for a person shot at 36 Georgia St. On arrival, officers located a victim suffering from apparent gunshot wound. EMS responded and pronounced the victim at the scene. The victim has been identified as Kevin Hines, 23, of Boston. The cause of death is gunshot wounds. The manner of death has been ruled a homicide.Akiel Civil, 21, of Dorchester was arrested yesterday in connection with the fatal shooting.
Shortly after the murder, Boston Police Homicide detectives were able to identify the suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest. Since the murder, the Boston Police have taken exhaustive measures to locate and place the suspect under arrest. Yesterday evening, Civil turned himself over to officers at District 3 for the purpose of surrendering himself to police relative to the murder investigation.
Civil was arraigned today at Roxbury District Court and held without bail. He was ordered to return to court on December 7, 2006.
