This morning at about 10:13am, officers assigned to District 13 responded to a “B.O.L.O.” for a stolen motor vehicle that was observed by its owner being operated by a suspect in the area of Centre and Bickford Streets in Jamaica Plain. Two Boston Police Officers performing a paid detail observed the stolen Dodge Ram pick up truck traveling toward them. One officer attempted to stop the vehicle by using verbal commands when the truck proceeded toward the officer and struck him. The officer landed on the hood of the truck and rolled off the side hitting the side view mirror before being dragged a few feet. The stolen truck continued and struck another motor vehicle before coming to a stop after hitting a building at 367 Centre Street. After the crash, the suspect exited the truck and began to flee on foot. An off duty police officer from District 2 and another officer from District 13 pursued the suspect on foot and apprehended him at 380 Centre Street.The officer was transported to Brigham and Woman’s Hospital and treated for his injuries. The occupant of the vehicle the suspect struck was transported to the Boston Medical Center for her injuries. Police arrested Larry Darnell Hart, 27, of Roxbury and charged him with Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon, Receiving Stolen Motor Vehicle, Resisting Arrest, Failure to Stop for a Police Officer, Driving to Endanger, and Leaving the Scene of an Accident causing Personal Injury. He will be arraigned tomorrow morning in the West Roxbury District Court.
